Welcome to the sustainability journey of Hunters Furniture, where we take you through our commitment to sustainability and the steps we've taken along the way.
In a world where environmental consciousness is crucial, we at Hunters Furniture are determined to make a positive impact. Our focus on sustainability extends to every facet of our business, including the furniture solutions we provide. By offering high-quality sustainable office furniture, we are helping our clients create a greener and more eco-friendly workspace. Join us as we share our story, highlighting the initiatives we’ve implemented and the progress we’ve made towards creating a more sustainable future. Together, we can build a better world, one sustainable choice at a time.
We kicked off 2023 with an energy saving campaign? So, in January, leadership asked to reduce energy consumption. It’s all about changing behaviour.
Everyone has played their part in reducing energy consumption, from regulating the air con to 22 degrees, to turning monitors off, rather than leaving them on standby. Our Zip HydroTap systems also save on energy costs because they are more efficient than kettles.
Staying with the environment, in January, our team delivered the first Hunters package free project. Instead of using high-density polyethylene (HDPE) shrink wrap and polystyrene, the projects team used 100 recycled blankets to protect desking during the installation phase at Canary Wharf.
Q2 gave us an opportunity to focus on Social Value. In March and April, the Hunters Furniture team visited Senator’s factory in Lancashire. The visit gave people an opportunity to learn about sustainable supply chains, including social value.
As part of this year’s Earth Day Celebrations (22nd April) – the directors invited everyone to take part in a green space walk for an extended break. It was an opportunity for the team to stretch their legs, go for a run, or just sit and enjoy the green spaces.
We invited our suppliers to take part in the Hunters big Easter quiz. Thanks to everyone involved, Hunters Furniture raised over £12,000 for Great Ormond Street hospital.
Q3 saw the launch of the Hunters Champions channel, a framework providing opportunities for staff to learn new skills. The framework is open to all staff and includes 17 different areas of business, from the Sustainability Champions, to the Wellbeing and Mental Health Champions.
Looking ahead to the rest of 2023, there are plenty of sustainability opportunities for Hunters. We’ve enrolled on the CITB sponsored Supply Chain Sustainability School, and the platform provides first-class training opportunities for professional development.
In September, Hunters will sponsor Sustainability London Live, the world’s fastest growing ESG event. We’re looking forward to learning from others, and sharing our office furniture knowledge. Come and say hello at the London Business Centre. You can find us on stand B2.
Behind the scenes, our design team are getting ready to launch our inaugural sustainable furniture document, showcasing some amazing office furniture products.
Rather than relying solely on traditional methods, more people are turning to modern technology to solve problems. The utilisation of innovative tools and services to address issues is becoming increasingly commonplace. As a result, there is a noticeable shift away from the old ways of doing things and towards the new.
So, where does this new approach to sustainability come from? As a start, the need for sustainable furniture is becoming increasingly well recognised. We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented demand for sustainable office furniture. This demand is driven by a number of factors, including good cost performance, time-to-market pressures, and future-proofing strategies, and a good social story.
