Booking.com is one of the biggest and best known online accommodation booking services in the world. Founded 20 years ago, its reach has spread across the globe with offices on every continent. It has over 1,000,000 properties globally under contract and it deals with more than 900,000 room night reservations every day.
We’ve been working with Booking.com for over two years and have just completed our third project with them at their client-facing location by Monument in the City of London. Our latest brief was to provide a loose furniture package to accompany the dazzling refurbishment of their Monument site.
The interiors of the client’s various locations emulate their truly international nature by drawing on a myriad of influences from around the world. This gave us the opportunity to be adventurous and push boundaries in our choice of products. The key was to supply products that did not detract from the visual impact of the interiors and instead embellished them. The specification was provided by HLW, with whom we have worked many times before and have a close understanding.
The value engineering process was integral to this project, which was subject to exacting budgetary pressures. We closely examined the specification before suggesting a range of alternative products with a better price point that we knew would not compromise the ultimate result. We took the client on a succession of showroom tours to ensure that they were happy with the product choices.
With any change, we ensured that the right fabrics, finishes and AV/IT integration solutions could feasibly be incorporated into the products. By the end of the value engineering process, over 70% of the original specification had been changed without any negative impact on the aesthetics and ergonomics of the overall package.
The interiors of the client's offices are spectacular, using techniques including feature walls with stunning photography, indoor foliage, and geometric canopies to create spaces that reflect the wondrous diversity of the globe across which booking.com operate.
We used an eclectic assortment of products whose colours and feel match those of the various feature walls and their themes. Pieces were specifically chosen to complement the unique style of each subspace. Verdant hues were chosen for the finishes of products in areas where indoor plants were foregrounded. Some highlights of the package include Dare Studio sofas and booths by Softline.
Our happy relationship with this client continued throughout the successful completion of this installation and we hope to enjoy more projects with them across their other sites in the future.
