Relocating to new offices in the Barbican district of London, the UK based charity Farm Africa recently invited us to provide a full furniture specification for their new Headquarters. Reaching across five East African countries, Farm Africa boosts harvests, reduces poverty, sustains natural resources and helps end Africa’s need for aid.
During the furniture selection process we worked with Farm Africa to ensure our choices provided a vibrant and open-plan environment whilst communicating a clear message of sustainability.
A key concern for them was finding a balance between a high-end look and expenditure, with 91% of all their income in 2012 going directly to on-the-ground aid. Practical solutions were found in Torasen Freeway Desking and Bisley System File storage, which provide a sleek, clutter-free and functional space in the main desking area.
Throughout the office we employed a number of pieces by the award-winning manufacturer in sustainability (FISA), Orangebox. In the meeting rooms Pars Meeting tables, topped with locally sourced wood which minimises their carbon footprint, proved an attractive option and created a contemporary formal environment.
To introduce a sense of vitality across the office Joy Meeting Chairs finished in vivid citrus hues were placed in both formal areas and greeting spaces. This user-friendly, versatile seating maximises comfort for employees and helps consolidate Farm Africa’s lively brand image.
