ISG is an international construction services company delivering fit out, construction and engineering services along with a range of specialist solutions. Realys are the interior design subsidiary of ISG. They aim to disrupt traditional models of the built environment with step-change design, project and portfolio solutions. Hunters were employed by Realys to install a full furniture package on a new floor of ISG’s Ipswich office. This was our first project with Realys.
Realys specified an inventive design that made liberal use of bright colour and some of the most pioneering innovations on the market. Our responsibility was to source and install a range of furniture that supported this brief to create a truly contemporary workspace. We acted in an advisory capacity with Realys on some of the furniture and design choices to guarantee that their vision was realized.
The products we sourced support a range of unconventional work practices that the modern office demands. The current trend in the workspace is away from traditional ways of working toward environments that support and promote flexibility and nomadic working patterns.
Time was at a premium on this project. We had only four and a half weeks from order through installation to handover. Operations management was key to the ultimate success of the project. Regular meetings and tight coordination ensured that the installation was completed on time and there was no snagging.
We installed a selection of different shapes and designs of desking by Max Furniture, from conventional rectangular desks to 120˚ workstations, to provide a range of working options. Seating is from Max Furnitures’s Rim range. Two Stand Up desking units by Max Furniture offer another choice of work practice. The client has since ordered four more of these units. We used catifas by Arper in the breakout areas for their crisp design and casual efficiency.
The most striking elements of the installation are the Boss Cega tubular booths. These units can be swiveled away from noisy parts of the office to give the user privacy, which can be hard to find in open plan workspaces.
They are designed to reduce peripheral vision and external noise to minimize disturbance. The high booth and sofa hybrid pods, also by Boss, provide more communal alternatives that are still secluded from the rest of the workspace. These workpods were particularly popular with the client.
We loved working for this prestigious client in tandem with an imaginative designer in Realys and hope this will be the first of many collaborations.
