Mizuho is a financial services provider employing over 68,000 people in 30 countries. Their London branch is the largest of their offices in the EMEA region with around 850 staff. Hunters installed a Executive furniture package for the top floor of their London office that houses a team of 7 senior leaders and also offers a boardroom, meeting rooms, and a client reception area.
This project was of the highest, most premium specification and allowed us to work with some of the more high-end products on the market. A niche project with unique demands, this project required specialist expertise. After an initial product specification was drawn up in coordination with the architect TP Bennett, we began by assessing the space. Based on the specification and our assessment, we then selected a range of product samples that were exhibited to the client in a showroom tour.
Once products had been decided upon, the client was then shown a range of fabric and leather samples from which to choose finishes. Strict attention was paid to the minutest of details. Working with such premium products presented its own challenges. Not only the furniture but also the space itself used the finest materials, so any snagging would have been extremely expensive to repair. The most meticulous care had to be taken to avoid even the slightest scuff.
The desks posed an interesting problem. We had to integrate a range of hardware into the desk seamlessly, without any impact on the desk's ergonomic effectiveness or its aesthetic impact. We coordinated workshops with the in-house IT team to design and implement a solution that allowed technological necessities to be incorporated into the desks without detracting from its luxurious look and feel.
The result is spectacular. Keypiece desking from Walter Knoll, incorporating credenzas and the bespoke cable ducting solution, together with chairs from Brunner combine to create luxurious workspaces with maximum utility. Other pieces from Walter Knoll include the wardrobes and bespoke AV units in the meeting rooms.
Two additional styles of Brunner chair are also found in the meeting rooms and reception area, each style catering to the needs of the specific space. This seating is supplemented by Knoll studio chairs that are the epitome of refinement and comfort. Perhaps the most eye-catching pieces are the Wilkhahn Asienta sofas, whose lean, crisp frames contrast sharply with the voluptuous upholstery. The beautiful, autumnal tones used in the product finishes complement the veneers of the joinery items found throughout this opulent space.
It was a joy to work with such beautiful products on a project where we were able showcase our encyclopedic knowledge of the office furniture industry to provide the client with exactly the products that such a rarefied space demands.
